Exec Summary
The NHS Companion App transforms hospital stays from overwhelming chaos into clear, confident experiences.
I initiated and designed this patient-focused solution to bridge communication gaps and eliminate anxiety. By providing clarity on diagnoses, real-time treatment tracking, and direct connection with care teams, all through a simple, jargon-free interface, the app significantly enhances patient empowerment and reduces stress.
Built in alignment with NHS digital standards, it requires no new infrastructure, leveraging existing hospital processes to deliver immediate value.
Context
A few months ago, I found myself in A&E. Confused, exhausted, shuffled between strangers in scrubs.
Each one asked me the same questions. I had no idea what was happening. No timeline, no plan, no familiar faces to anchor me. Just a whirlwind of tests, jargon, and fleeting faces — gone before I could ask, “What’s next?” No record of what was said, done, or decided.
As a designer and systems thinker, I knew this was a solvable problem. So, I got to work: listening to patients, learning from NHS staff, and designing a way to turn chaos into clarity.
Case study coming soon.
